The Whoops. Something went wrong error often occur due to server-side issues. It appears when clipping a section of a stream, and the clip may get stuck at 100 percent loading, which is both frustrating and buggy.

This error can also result from the use of copyrighted music within the clip. Additionally, a poor internet connection and temporary glitches with the browser or Twitch webpage can contribute to this issue. Below are some fixes you might try to resolve this problem.

1. Toggle Off Your Browser’s Extensions

Sometimes, extensions interfere with how web pages load and function, which could be the reason behind the error you’re encountering. Deactivating your browser’s extensions serves a dual purpose; not only does it cut down on the usage of system resources, but it can also eliminate potential conflicts.

  1. Open your preferred web browser.
  2. Click the 3 dots on the top-right side of your screen.
  3. Hover your cursor over the Extensions tab, then click the Manage Extensions button.
  4. At the end of each extension, click on the corresponding toggle box.
  5. Toggle off each of your extensions one by one.

2. Delete Cookies And Cache Of Your Browser

Over time, these files can become outdated or corrupt, which may lead to problems when loading or playing streams on Twitch.

By deleting this stored data, you eliminate any potential issues that these files could be causing, making sure that Twitch can load the latest version of its pages and function without interference from old data.

  1. Open your preferred web browser.
  2. Click the 3 dots at the top-right side of the screen.
  3. Choose the Clear browsing data option.
  4. A small window will pop up.
  5. Select the Time range option and choose All time.
  6. Deselect the Browsing history option.
  7. To delete all cached data and cookies, click the Clear data button.

Note: Close and reopen your browser after this step.

3. Re-Login To Your Account

Re-logging in establishes a fresh connection between your account and the Twitch servers, which can fix minor glitches and expired session data, helping to resolve many bugs.

Note: Make sure your internet connection is stable.

  1. Open your preferred web browser.
  2. Visit the Twitch website.
  3. Click your Profile icon.
  4. Select the Log Out option.
  5. Click your profile icon again.
  6. Choose the Log In button.
  7. Enter your Username and Password to continue.

Note: Try editing your clip to be just under 60 seconds in length.

Creator’s Side Solution:

Uncheck Subscriber-Only Archives

Disabling the Subscriber-Only Archives setting potentially resolves the clipping error because it removes restrictions on who can create clips. If this setting is enabled, only subscribers can clip streams, which could lead to errors for users who are not subscribed when they attempt to clip.

By unchecking this option, you eliminate the possibility that such permissions issues are causing the problem, thus allowing for smoother clip creation for all viewers.

Note: Make sure the Clips option is enabled in your stream settings.

  1. Once again, open you preferred web browser.
  2. Visit the Twitch website.
  3. Click your Profile icon.
  4. Choose the Creator Dashboard option.
  5. Access the Settings drop-down menu.
  6. Select the Affiliate option.
  7. Uncheck the Subscriber-only archives box.

Note: Refresh your Twitch webpage afterward.

If the issue persists, try using a different browser. For further assistance, submit your issue to Twitch contact support.

]]>
When users encounter the mfehidk.sys Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), their system generally crashes all of a sudden. This blue screen points out a specific error, indicating a significant problem with a system driver.

The file, mfehidk.sys, is linked with the McAfee Host Intrusion Detection Link Driver, a component of the McAfee security suite. This file plays a vital role in enforcing the security rules of McAfee on Windows operating systems.

The appearance of the BSOD associated with mfehidk.sys often results from issues between the McAfee software and the operating system, outdated drivers, or hardware problems.

In this article, we’ll discuss ways to fix this problem.

1. Update McAfee

Using an outdated version of McAfee may be causing problems like the BSOD. Therefore, it’s advised to update McAfee. This update will download and install the latest software version, which may fix this issue.

  1. Open McAfee.
  2. Click on the PC Security tab and select Update this app.
  3. Click on Check for Updates.
  4. Follow the steps shown on your screen.

2. Use Autoruns to Remove mfehidk.sys Entries

You can use Autoruns, a program from Microsoft that identifies and lets you turn off startup programs, to delete mfehidk.sys. This program causes the BSOD, and deleting these entries will stop it from starting, thereby preventing the error.

Note: Removing this file from startup will cause some modules in the McAfee antivirus software to be unavailable. So, consider trying other solutions first.

  1. Go to the official Microsoft website and download Autoruns.
  2. Extract the zip file, right-click on AutoRuns, and run it as an administrator. Use Autoruns.exe for 32-bit systems or Autoruns64.exe for 64-bit systems.
  3. In the AutoRuns window, search for mfehidk.sys and delete all related entries.
  4. Right-click each entry and select Delete.
  5. Restart your computer.

Note: Deleting this entry will cause the McAfee program to stop working.

3. Uninstall McAfee

Removing McAfee, which is the main software the file is linked to, might solve the issue. You can use the McAfee Uninstaller to remove this software.

Note: Once the software is uninstalled, to protect your computer, think about using the built-in Microsoft Defender or reinstalling McAfee. But if reinstalling McAfee triggers the BSOD again, you will need to think about using another antivirus. Please refer to our top antivirus list.

  1. Download and open the McAfee uninstaller from their official site here.
  2. Once open, click on Agree > Next.
  3. Type in the Security Verification code shown and press Next.
  4. Wait till the process finishes.
  5. Press Restart.

5. Rename mfehidk.sys in Safe Mode

Sometimes, changing the name of the problematic driver file can stop it from causing a BSOD. Renaming the file will prevent Windows from accessing the file, which may stop the BSOD. You can change the name of the file using the Command Prompt in Advanced Startup.

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Update and Security > Recovery.
  3. Click Restart Now under Advanced Startup.
  4. In the Advanced Startup window, click on Troubleshoot.
  5. Click on Advanced options.
  6. Click on Command Prompt and follow any on-screen steps.
  7. Type in the following commands:
    cd drivers
    ren mfehidk.sys mfehidk.old

  8. Restart Windows.

6. Restore System to an Earlier Restore Point

Performing a system restore can take your computer back to a previous state. It sometimes fixes BSOD-related problems. Since the issue might come from a recent update, going back could remove that update, which can potentially fix the problem.

If you want to learn how to restore your system, you can check out our article here.

7. Reinstall Windows

If none of the solutions work, we suggest reinstalling Windows. This will remove all unnecessary files and software. It potentially can remove the McAfee software and the mfehidk.sys file, which might solve this issue.

If you need a detailed guide on how to completely reinstall Windows, check out our article here.

If reinstalling Windows doesn’t solve the issue, consider contacting McAfee support. You can explain your problem to them, and they might be able to provide a solution.

When encountering the “Kodi playback failed” error, users often find themselves unable to play media content, encountering a message that states one or more items failed to play and suggests checking the log file for details. This issue frequently results from problems with the media file’s compatibility, such as unsupported formats or codec issues, which manifest as errors like “ERROR: CDVDPlayer::OpenDemuxStream – Error creating demuxer” in the Kodi debug log.

A frequent cause of playback failure in Kodi is incorrect media file paths or access issues, especially with networked sources like SMB/CIFS shares. Permissions issues or SMB protocol mismatches between Kodi and the server can prevent Kodi from accessing or playing files stored on network-attached storage devices or other computers.

In addition to network-related issues, playback problems may also stem from user-agent blocking by certain content providers. For example, changing the user-agent setting in the IPTV Simple Client from “kodi” to “VLC” or another value can resolve playback issues with specific m3u lists that work in VLC but not in Kodi. This workaround implies that some providers may block Kodi’s default user-agent, possibly due to security concerns or to regulate access.

If this simple fix doesn’t work for you, try the following solutions:

1. Check Your Internet Connection

Test your Internet speed to determine if you have a stable and reliable connection, as an inconsistent connection can cause this error. If you are using a PC, check your Internet speed at Google Fiber Internet Speed Test.

Consider restarting your computer before proceeding with more advanced methods. Restarting your PC can eliminate temporary files and ensure applications, such as Kodi media player, function with the latest dependencies in the updated system environment.

2. Clear Maintenance Cache

Cache acts as temporary storage allowing for a smooth video-watching experience without buffering. However, if the cache becomes full, Kodi may have trouble maintaining video quality, leading to crashes or slowdowns.

  1. Open the Kodi Media Player.
  2. Navigate to the Add-ons section.
  3. Select Program Add-ons and open Indigo.
  4. Click on Configuration.
  5. Go to the Auto Clean option and select Clear Cache.
  6. After completing, click OK to Exit. You have now successfully cleared Kodi’s cache.

3. Update to the Latest Version

Regular updates refine and improve applications, providing a better user experience and avoiding many of the bugs, glitches, and errors found in earlier versions.

  1. Visit the Kodi official website.
  2. Select the platform currently being used for Kodi.
  3. Download the version (64-bit or 32-bit) appropriate for your operating system.
  4. Execute the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest version of Kodi.

It’s also important to ensure that add-ons are updated to be compatible with the current system environment, reducing the risk of bugs and crashes.

  1. Launch the Kodi Application.
  2. Click on Add-ons.
  3. Select My Add-ons.
  4. Click on All.
  5. Choose the add-ons you wish to update (e.g., Estouchy).
  6. Select Versions.
  7. Update to the latest version available.

    https://www.reddit.com
  4. If the problem persists, attempt to load the website using the beta URL:
    https://beta.reddit.com/

Check Your User Actions

You might receive the Error 503 if you attempt to perform an action that the server does not allow. For instance, if the website only permits uploading JPEG images, trying to upload a PNG file could trigger the first-byte timeout error. The solution here is straightforward: upload a JPEG image. Depending on your situation, you may need to investigate further to identify user actions that could be causing the error.

3. Server Side

If users encounter Error 503 first-byte timeout when trying to access your website, you can employ the following methods:

Check Limits

Firstly, review the timeout limits set for your website or server. You may need to adjust these values, and the procedure will depend on the technology or server architecture in use.

Varnish

  1. Edit the php.ini file to increase the following limits:
    memory_limit
    max_execution_time
  2. Similarly, adjust the pub/.user.ini file to increase these limits as well.
  3. If necessary, modify the VCL Conf file, setting first_byte_timeout to 300s (from the default of 60s).
Set the First Byte Timeout Value to 60
Set the First Byte Timeout Value to 60
  4. Save the changes and retest the website.

Fastly

  1. In the command-line interface, run:
    update fastly/magento2
  2. Navigate to Admin > Stores > Configuration > Advanced > System > Full Page Cache.
  3. Set the Admin Path Timeout to 600 (the maximum limit Fastly supports) and select Upload VCL to Fastly.
    Upload VCL to Fastly
    Upload VCL to Fastly

Magento

  1. Go to the app/bootstrap.php file and insert the following code at the beginning:
    ini_set('memory_limit', -1);
    ini_set('max_execution_time', 18000);
  2. Save your changes and check if the error has been resolved.

Check Server Extensions

The issue might stem from a server extension. Disabling or removing any questionable extensions may solve the problem. The PCNTL extension is known to cause Error 503. If such or similar extensions are present, disabling or removing them is advisable.

Be aware that disabling or removing an extension can temporarily affect certain website functionalities. To pinpoint the culprit, you may need to deactivate extensions one at a time.

Test Response Headers for Nginx

  1. On a client machine, open a command-line interface and run the following command. Remember to replace “ and “ with the appropriate information:
    curl -I -H "Host: " http:///request/uri
  2. Inspect the returned response headers for any specific error messages related to Nginx and address those issues accordingly.
  3. If no response headers are obtained, consider adjusting your Nginx configuration as follows:
    http {
    tcp_nopush off;
tcp_nodelay on; # force socket to send buffer
    }
  4. If a gateway timeout error is returned, modify the configuration to:
    http {
    keepalive_timeout 300;
    proxy_connect_timeout 300;
    proxy_read_timeout 300;
    proxy_send_timeout 300;
    }

Check Your Subscription Plan

Should your server be unable to access essential services due to subscription limitations, this could result in a first-byte timeout error. As an illustration, under the Spark payment plan, servers are unable to make external HTTP requests to non-Google services.

An upgrade of your subscription plan might be necessary to resolve this issue, for example, switching from Spark to the Blaze plan in Firebase.

Check for a DDoS Attack

If the website server or any of its backend dependencies are under a DDoS attack, the server may not be able to obtain the required responses, leading to a first-byte timeout error for users.

Investigate potential DDoS attacks against your website, hosting, or any backend technology such as Webflow.

Should none of the suggested solutions work, reach out to the Support team of your hosting or backend services provider. Additionally, check the status page of the hosting’s website for any known issues.

3. Update The Browser

An updated browser is essential as it includes the latest features and security improvements, and helps avoid issues caused by outdated software.

  1. Open your Web Browser.
  2. Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
  3. Hover over Help in the drop-down menu for additional settings.
  4. Choose About Google Chrome from the submenu.
  5. Chrome will automatically check for updates and notify you if an update is ready to be installed.

4. Change Your DNS

If your current DNS server has trouble resolving the Character.AI website address, changing it can help. Your system may not be accurately translating the website’s domain into its IP address.

  1. Press the Start button and search for Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Control Panel app in the search results.
  3. Select the Network and Internet category.
  4. Choose the Network and Sharing Center.
  5. Click on your active internet connection label under the View your active networks section.
  6. In the window that appears, select Properties.
  7. Locate and highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  8. Change the selection from Obtain DNS server address automatically to Use the following DNS server addresses. Input new DNS addresses—such as 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1—and click OK to save the changes.

5. Use A VPN

A VPN can aid in bypassing online restrictions and enable access to Character.AI. It works by routing your internet connection through a server in a location where Character.AI is available.

Install a VPN application, launch it, choose a server in a location where Character.AI is accessible, and connect. You should be able to access Character.AI as if you were in that location. While this is not a long-term fix, it serves as a temporary workaround that can be useful when faced with regional restrictions.

6. Disable Browser Extensions

Extensions could interfere with website functionality by creating script conflicts or placing high demands on your browser resources. Disabling certain extensions may resolve the issue.

  1. Open your browser, click the three vertical dots, and go to More tools, then Extensions.
  2. Deactivate the extensions one at a time.
  3. After disabling each extension, check if Character.AI loads correctly.

7. Try an Incognito/Private Window

Incognito Mode can address issues with Character.AI not loading because it disregards saved browser data and automatically disables extensions.

  1. In your browser, click on the three vertical dots and select New incognito window or New Private Window, depending on your browser.
  2. Open the Character.AI website in this new window and see if the problem persists.

Should these steps fail to resolve the issue, it may due to server-side errors or specific problems with your account or setup. In this case, seek assistance from Character AI support.

  1. Go to the Character AI Support Page or Help Center.
  2. Find and click on a ‘Contact Us’ or ‘Support’ link, typically located at the bottom of the page.
  3. Follow the provided instructions to obtain help tailored to your situation.

The PS5 error code CE-1173-6 typically occurs when attempting to play online games that require a PlayStation Plus subscription. This error often indicates a problem with verifying your digital ownership of the game you’re trying to play.

This issue commonly stems from a corrupted license on your console. Other factors contributing to this issue include PSN server overloading, maintenance, or an outdated system software.

1. Check the PSN Server Status

It’s helpful to check the PSN server’s status when you encounter error code CE-1173-6, as issues on Sony’s end can sometimes be the cause. Think of the PSN server status as a traffic report, letting you know whether PSN servers are operational or if an outage is contributing to the problem.

  1. Go to the PSN server status page.
  2. Select your region from the drop-down menu under “Select a region to check the network status,” and choose your country.
  3. The PlayStation Network status page will display the server status for your selected region.

2. Restart Your PS5 and Network Router

Restarting your console can clear the temporary cache and prompt a fresh start, while restarting your router can resolve issues like IP address conflicts or routing errors. These simple troubleshooting steps typically take just a few minutes and may resolve the error.

Restarting the Console

  2. Scroll to the right on your screen until you highlight the Power option.
  3. Select Restart PS5 from the power options provided by the quick menu.
  4. Confirm the restart and wait for the PS5 to power off and then turn back on.

Restarting Network Router

  1. Unplug your router for at least 30 seconds to ensure it fully powers down. After restarting the router, check if the error persists.

3. Check Your PS Plus Subscription

An active PlayStation Plus subscription is required for some digital games, particularly online titles. When you try to launch your games, PlayStation checks to verify your license ownership.

  1. Head to the PS5 settings menu.
  2. Go to Users and Accounts, where you can manage user profiles, account settings, and PS subscriptions.
  3. After selecting Users and Accounts, navigate to the Account section to access options specific to your PS Network Account.
  4. Within Account Settings, find an option labeled Payment and Subscription.

4. Restore Your License

The PS5 verifies your ownership of digital content, including games and DLCs, through licenses. If there are glitches with the license on your console, restoring them can solve errors and ensure your PS5 has the most current license information.

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab on your PS5.
  2. Choose Users and Accounts from the options listed.
  3. Select the Other category from the menu.
  4. Choose Restore Licenses from the given options, initiating a re-verification process between your console and Sony’s servers.

5. Update System Software

Updating your console software improves the overall functionality and performance by introducing new features, fixing bugs and glitches that were discovered in the previous software version, and updating security patches.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu on your PS5.
  2. Select System, followed by System Software.
  3. Choose System Software Update and Settings.
  4. If an update is available, select Update System Software and follow the instructions to complete the process.

6. Renew Encryption Key

When a user updates system software, the encryption key used to play Blu-ray disks is automatically renewed in the background.

  1. With the PS5 turned on, insert a game disc and allow the console to recognize it.
  2. Follow any on-screen prompts to renew the encryption key.

7. Check for Game-Specific Updates

This option on PS5 allows the user to manually initiate and search for updates specific to a particular game you have installed, ensuring that you have the latest version of the game.

  1. Highlight the game on the PS5 home screen.
  2. Press the Options button on your controller.
  3. Select Check for Update.
  4. Install any available updates for the game.

8. Rebuild Database

Rebuilding your database on PS5 is a troubleshooting step that can help improve performance and resolve certain issues. It helps in fixing database corruption and resolving fragmented data.

  1. Turn off your PS5 completely.
  2. Press and hold the power button until you hear the second beep to enter Safe Mode.
  3. Connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
  4. Select Rebuild Database and wait for the process to complete.

9. Contact PlayStation Support

When encountering the VERR_DISK_FULL error in VirtualBox, users are often in the midst of setting up, cloning, or using their virtual machines. However, they find themselves abruptly interrupted by this error message during updates. The VERR_DISK_FULL error indicates that the operation cannot be completed because VirtualBox believes there is insufficient space on the host system’s disk.

VirtualBox VERR_DISK_FULL error

The VERR_DISK_FULL error signifies that VirtualBox is unable to write to the disk because there is not enough space on the virtual machine’s disk. This issue frequently arises not because of insufficient overall disk storage capacity, but because the specific partition where VirtualBox is installed may be full or nearly full.

A common misconception about the functionality of dynamically allocated storage in VirtualBox is often the source of this error. As data gets accumulated on the virtual machine, the size of the dynamic disk increases to match. However, when data is deleted, the dynamic disk does not automatically shrink, which can lead to a situation where the host’s file system lacks the necessary space for the disk’s further expansion.

To prevent such errors and interruptions, ensure that there is at least 10 GB of free storage available. Also, other factors, such as an incorrect disk partition style, might contribute to this issue.

1. Change Disk to NTFS

Should you attempt to clone a virtual machine on a FAT32 disk, you will face complications because FAT32 cannot handle files larger than 4GB. Converting the disk to NTFS will enable you to create a clone or copy files that exceed the 4GB limit.

  1. Open the Search Box, type “cmd,” and run the Command Prompt as Administrator.
    Opening Command Prompt as Administrator
  2. Type the following command:
    convert G: /fs:ntfs

This command will convert your disk to NTFS without erasing any data. Be sure to replace “G” with the letter of your partition.

2. Change Clone Settings

If your disk lacks the necessary storage to create a clone, you might want to consider using a different disk with enough free space. Moreover, if the error occurs while you are trying to clone only the current machine state, try cloning all of the machine’s snapshots, as this might help resolve the issue.

  1. Open VirtualBox, right-click on the virtual machine, and select “Clone.”
    Selecting Clone in VirtualBox
  2. Click on Path and select a different disk.

  3. Choose “Export mode,” select Full Clone, pick Everything under Snapshots, and then click the Clone button to proceed.

The message “An update is being prepared for your device but it’s not quite ready yet” is one you might encounter when a Windows update is nearing completion. It’s a common sight for users in the process of installing updates. If, however, the message persists for an extended period, it could indicate an underlying issue.

Essentially, this message means that Windows’ attempt to apply a new update is temporarily delayed because the update is either not fully prepared or is incompatible with your device. This issue can stem from a variety of causes, such as Microsoft’s servers preparing a feature update that isn’t immediately optimized for all devices.

Other potential causes might be a temporary communication problem between your device and the Microsoft update servers or the need for prerequisite updates to be installed first.

Furthermore, ensuring that your device maintains a stable internet connection and has enough storage space can help prevent many common issues related to updates.

In this article, we’ll outline the nature of this error and provide straightforward, efficient solutions for you to try.

Solution 1: Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

The Windows Update Troubleshooter is an inbuilt tool that identifies and fixes common issues preventing the successful installation of updates.

After the scan, the troubleshooter will display any detected issues and often suggest remedies that can be applied directly from the program. Here is how to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter:

  1. Open Settings by pressing the Windows + I keys simultaneously.
  2. Navigate to Updates & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  3. Click on Windows Update, then select Run the troubleshooter.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to address any issues the troubleshooter identifies.
  5. If no issues are detected, click Close the troubleshooter.

Solution 2: Reset the Windows Update Services and Cache

For a Windows update to install correctly, certain services need to be enabled and functioning. Glitches sometimes disable these services, causing installation issues.

To solve these problems, we must reset the affected components and services to their default settings. We’ve prepared a batch file that utilizes the Command Prompt to perform these actions. Simply download and run the file with administrative privileges.

  1. Download the batch file from this link.
  2. If prompted, click on Download anyway.
  3. Right-click the downloaded file and select Run as administrator.
  4. In the security dialog, choose More info > Run anyway.
  5. Confirm your action by clicking Yes on the User Account Control prompt.
  6. After the process is complete, restart your computer and check if the update issue has been resolved.

Solution 3: Download Show or Hide Updates from Microsoft

If the previous solutions didn’t work, it’s possible that the update simply isn’t compatible with your device. Microsoft might have unintentionally released this update for your computer, and if it’s not needed or compatible, you can temporarily hide the update using Microsoft’s official Show or hide updates tool. Here’s how:

  1. Download the Show or hide updates tool by clicking on this link.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file and click Next to continue.
  3. Select Hide updates on the next page.
  4. Wait for the tool to detect issues related to Windows updates, then review the list of available updates on your device.
  5. Tick the box next to the update you wish to hide and then click Next.
  6. The tool will then proceed to hide the selected updates. Once finished, it will display a summary of the hidden updates.
  7. To complete the process, click Close the troubleshooter and restart your computer.

Note: If you prefer not to hide the update and want to continue attempting the installation, consider using the Windows Update Assistant as an alternative method.
